Seeking Volunteer Counselor
A My Choices Counselor works with victims of abuse and often their husbands and/or families to overcome the abuse and work to find a peaceful solution. Counselors deal mostly with cases of (emotional, economic, physical and/or sexual) domestic abuse, but may also counsel victims of different forms of sexual violence including rape or other kinds of abuse. Counselors offer guidance for the emotional recovery of victims of abuse, as well as guidance for conflict resolution and legal action if required and wanted.
Counselors work with local women called PeaceMakers who are trained and equipped to offer counseling and education on legal recourse to victims of abuse. PeaceMakers are the first point of contact in most instances and will refer cases to counselors that require a deeper level of assistance.
